No. Our Mylar stencils don't have an adhesive backing. We recommend a repositionable stencil spray adhesive to help keep the stencil flat against your surface. You can also use tape to secure the edges. Choose an adhesive suitable for your surface and test it on a small area first.

These are bridges: small connections that hold enclosed areas, such as the center of an "O," in place. They leave small gaps in the painted design, which you can review in your proof. If you want to fill those gaps, ask whether an additional bridge-cover stencil would suit your design.

Yes! You can select the number of layers directly on our Custom Stencil product page when ordering. Our designers will prepare your artwork so the different colors or parts can be painted in sequence, and you'll see the proposed setup in your proof. If you're unsure how many layers you need, send us your design and we'll help you choose.

Yes! We can produce designs up to 46 × 46 inches on a single sheet. Larger designs are divided into sections, called a multipart stencil, which you align during painting to create the full design. Send us your artwork and finished dimensions, and we'll confirm the best layout.

Keep the stencil flat and secure against a clean, dry surface. We recommend a repositionable stencil spray adhesive, with tape around the edges if needed. Small weights, such as nuts or bolts, can help hold areas down without covering the cutouts.

When painting, less is more: apply very light coats, especially with spray paint. Two or three light passes are better than one heavy coat, which can seep underneath the edges. Practice on spare material first.

Yes! Use a fabric spray paint suitable for the material you're working with. We've had good experiences with Tulip fabric sprays. Follow the paint's instructions for drying, setting, and washing, and test on spare fabric or an inconspicuous area before painting your finished item.

For water-based paint, rinse your stencil under water and gently wipe it with soap and a small, soft sponge. For stubborn residue, you can also use a solvent such as acetone - our Mylar stencils are resistant to it.

Dried paint can often be gently peeled or flaked off. Take extra care around narrow bridges and fine details, and avoid pulling or sharply bending them. Let your stencil dry fully and store it flat.
